OTA Update for Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 brings Face Unlock & April Security Patch

Taiwanese manufacturer launched Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, a direct competitor to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 was on pre-order yesterday. But just 10 days after its launch in India, the company has also rolled out a new OTA update for it, which brings the face recognition feature to the device, alongside improvements in battery, camera, fingerprint sensor, and gyroscope. this update also brings Android security patch level update to April 2018.

 

Comparing to the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the Zenfone Max Pro M1 is one step ahead in every department, except the pricing. Its OTA update, which is about 125MB in size. Also in changelog, it brings some features and fixes in the smartphone.

 

As mentioned, the key highlights of this OTA update are….

  • Face Recognition feature, that means unlock by face recognition. Now days face unlock is must for all high end smartphones.
  • Improvements on gyroscope functionality, audio parameters, battery and more.
  • improvements on the response speed of the fingerprint sensor.
  • Optimization in the front as well as rear cameras such as color correction, HDR Algorithm, low light photography, and more.

April security patch level update also included in this OTA update. Asus has claimed that they are continuously improving the camera and battery performance and they will continue to release updates, also Android P and Android Q updates in future. All Zenfone Max Pro M1 users will get the OTA update download notification in a few days. Alternatively to get update manually you can go to Settings > System > System updates.

The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 comes with 5.99-inch 18:9 FHD+ (2160×1080) IPS LCD display, Snapdragon 636 Eight Kryo 260 cores up to 1.8GHz 14nm coupled with an Adreno 509 GPU, face unlock, dual rear camera 13MP+5MP and 8MP front camera. The smartphone with 159 x 76 x 8.61mm dimensions and 180g weight also features LTE with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 with AptX, GPS, GLONASS Micro-USB, 3.5mm audio jack connectivity and huge 5000mAh battery with fast charging.

 

The smartphone has two variants one with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM priced at Rs 10,999 and another with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM, which is priced at Rs 12,999. Also there are two color option Meteor Silver, Deepsea Black.
